Robert Stewart (University of Houston Professor and one of the original investors of WebMD)
Former SEG’s President, Rob Stewart, deprecatingly calls himself a “least-squares fit to an excess of interests.” After a high school program centered on music, he studied math and physics at the University of Toronto then spent a winter trekking in Nepal and exploring Thailand and India. He returned to Canada and worked at the Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital developing ultrasonic imaging systems for cancer detection, then went to M.I.T. for his Ph.D. in geophysics. After subsequent employment with Chevron, Veritas, and the University of Calgary, he began a new adventure in Texas - where he currently holds the Cullen Chair in Exploration Geophysics at the University of Houston and is Director of the Allied Geophysical Laboratories.
He made possible that his best friend Doug Baxter inspired VFaith and VHealth. Also his own healthy and happy way of living inspired the continue search of the UNIVERSAL TRUTH that made possible VFaith and VHealth.

Going Home: Jesus and Buddha as Brothers
By Thich Nhat Hanh
"Thich Nhat Hanh shows us the connection between personal, inner peace and peace on earth."
--His Holiness The Dalai Lama (Hardcover)
Nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for a Nobel Peace Prize, Thich Nhat Hanh is one of today’s leading sources of wisdom, peace, compassion and comfort. Exiled from Vietnam over thirty years ago, Thich Nhat Hanh has become known as a healer of the heart, a monk who shows us how the everyday world can both enrich and endanger our spiritual lives. In this book, Jesus and Buddha share a conversation about prayer and ritual and renewal, and about where such concepts as resurrection and the practice of mindfulness converge. In this unique way, Thich Nhat Hanh shows the brotherhood between Jesus and Buddha-- and in the process shows how we can take their wisdom into the world with us, to "practice in such a way that Buddha is born every moment of our daily life, that Jesus Christ is born every moment of our daily life."
The Three Refuges by Plum Village

Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography
by Walter Isaaccson
Walter Isaacson’s “enthralling” (The New Yorker) worldwide bestselling biography of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs. Hard Cover. Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing. Isaacson’s portrait touched millions of readers. At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering. Although Jobs cooperated with the author, he asked for no control over what was written. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. He himself spoke candidly about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues offer an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.
Einstein: His Life and Universe
by Walter Isaaccson
By the author of the acclaimed bestseller Benjamin Franklin, this is the first full biography of Albert Einstein since all of his papers have become available. How did his mind work? What made him a genius? Isaacson's biography shows how the imagination that distinguished his science sprang from the rebellious nature of his personality. His fascinating story, a testament to the connection between creativity and freedom, reflects the triumphs and tumults of the modern era. Based on the newly-released papers and personal letters, this book explores how an imaginative, impertinent patent clerk - a struggling father in a difficult marriage who couldn't get a teaching job or a doctorate - became the mindreader of the creator of the cosmos, the locksmith of the mysteries of the atom and the universe. His success came from questioning conventional wisdom and marveling at mysteries that struck others as mundane. This led him to embrace a morality and politics based on respect for free minds, free spirits, and free individuals. These traits are just as vital for this new century of globalization, in which our success will depend on our creativity, as they were for the beginning of the last century, when Einstein helped usher in the modern age.
To Pixar and Beyond: My Unlikely Journey with Steve Jobs
by Lawrence Levy (One of Juniper Foundation founding members)
The never-before-told story of Pixar's improbable success. "Hi, Lawrence?" the caller asked. "This is Steve Jobs. I saw your picture in a magazine a few years ago and thought we'd work together someday." After Steve Jobs was unceremoniously dismissed from Apple, he turned his attention to a little-known graphics art company that he owned called Pixar. One day, out of the blue, Jobs called Lawrence Levy, a Harvard-trained lawyer and Silicon Valley executive to whom he had never spoken before, in the hope of persuading Levy to help him get Pixar on the right track. What Levy found in Pixar was a company on the verge of failure. To Pixar and Beyond is the extraordinary story of what happened next: How Levy, working closely with Jobs and the Pixar team, produced and implemented a highly improbable roadmap that transformed the sleepy graphics art studio into one of Hollywood's greatest success stories. Set in the worlds of Silicon Valley and Hollywood, the book takes listeners inside Pixar, Disney, law firms, and investment banks. It provides an up-close, first-hand account of Pixar's stunning ascent, how it took risks, Levy's enduring collaboration and friendship with Jobs, and how Levy came to see in Pixar deeper parallels that apply to all aspects of our lives.
Buddhist Tradition for Modern Life. From 1994 to 2002, in a small country house in Sebastopol, California, Segyu Rinpoche operated a traditional Tibetan Buddhist center. High lamas from Tibet visited regularly and marveled at its authenticity and potency, and students came from all over the world for meditation and retreats. Segyu Rinpoche had been trained at the highest levels of Tibetan Gelugpa tradition, spending over 30 years under the tutelage of Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, one of Tibetan Buddhism's most renowned masters.Yet Segyu Rinpoche and four of his students felt that it was possible to have a more widespread impact with these practices. They believed that to do so would require something different, a new approach that dropped the religious and cultural artifacts of the past, embraced new knowledge and discovery, and spoke to contemporary times. Beginning on January 14, 2003, Rinpoche and those four students set out to examine how to accomplish the task of making the essence of these practices accessible in contemporary life. Each believed that meditation is a timeless endeavor to refine our experience as human beings, and to cultivate the very best in our potential. Their work included dissecting the tradition as handed down from the past, identifying those principles and precepts that no longer stand the test of contemporary knowledge, and embracing the claims and findings of science where they clearly supplant older views. Ten years later, the result is Juniper, a meditation school in which the wisdom and experience of a long-standing meditation tradition are presented in a secular form, tailored to modern culture, knowledge and sensibility.
